Swiss carrier Baboo is aiming to be the first carrier to operate the Embraer 190 into London City Airport, with a service next week.

While British Airways CityFlyer and Lufthansa CityLine are each planning to introduce services with the type shortly, Baboo is intending to operate a flight on 10 February.

Geneva-based Baboo currently uses the Bombardier Q400 on the London City route and chief executive Jacques Bankir tells Air Transport Intelligence that the service is "doing well" in terms of loads.

But following the Embraer 190's certification to conduct the steep approach into City, he states that the airline "wants to experiment" with its potential.

Baboo has three Embraer 190s in its fleet as well as a pair of Q400s.
