Bad weather in the Moray Firth is hampering the resumption of rescue efforts for two missing Royal Air Force Panavia Tornado GR4 aircrew following an incident off Scotland on 3 July.

The UK Ministry of Defence says it will take a decision on whether to resume its search efforts later on the morning of 4 July. Two aircrew have been rescued, the RAF confirms, and two remain unaccounted for.

Details of the accident remain sketchy, but the Ministry of Defence states that it is "investigating the incident" in the Moray Firth area.

Both of the Tornado jets were from RAF Lossiemouth, it adds.

The Moray Firth is an stretch of water spreading eastwards from Inverness to the North Sea.
