Vietnamese start-up Bamboo Airways has selected SIA Engineering (SIAEC) to meet its maintenance needs.

The airline's parent company FLC Group says SIAEC will provide the airline with various maintenance services at domestic and international airports, inventory management, personnel training, and the supply and maintenance of spare parts on its in-service Airbus A320s as well as its incoming fleet of Boeing 787s.

SIAEC and its joint ventures will also extend warehousing and logistical support to Bamboo.

FLC notes that SIAEC will help the airline ensure "high operational safety" and reduce maintenance cost.

In the coming weeks, Bamboo, which started flying last month, is also set to start seven domestic services.

These are Ho Chi Minh City-Vinh, Hanoi-Vinh, Buon Me Thuot-Vinh, Da Lat-Vinh at the end of February, followed by Hanoi-Can Tho, Hanoi-Da Lat, Hanoi-Pleiku in March.

FlightGlobal schedules data shows that Bamboo will compete with VietJet Air on the Buon Ma Thuot and Da Lat flights to Vinh, and Vietnam Airlines on the Hanoi-Vinh route.

It will operate alongside Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Jetstar Pacific on the Ho Chi Minh City- Vinh, Hanoi-Can Tho and Hanoi-Da Lat routes.
