Boeing has added an additional eight 777s to its order book this week, pushing its yearly total for the long-range twin to 120 gross orders in 2011.

Boeing executives said earlier this week they expect the 777 to have a record sales year, exceeding the 153 orders received for the type in 2005.

The order was attributed to unidentified customers, and increases the undisclosed total to 23 777 aircraft.

With two 777 cancellations in 2011, Boeing holds 118 net orders for the type. The order increases Boeing's gross order total to 484, but when coupled with 74 737 cancellations and 26 787 cancellations, the net total slips to 382 aircraft.
