Bombardier Aerospace has again put off the launch of the proposed 110-130-seat C Series airliner although it is maintaining its previous planned 2013 entry into service date.

President and chief operating officer Pierre Beaudoin says the Canadian firm will be “escalating” discussions with suppliers while it talks to potential airlines about what the C-Series will cost. While Bombardier will, he adds, be doing a lot of research and development over the coming year, “we do not need to make a launch decision until calendar 2008” for the 2013 in-service target.

In February Bombardier launched a stretched version of its CRJ900, the 100-seat CRJ1000 to compete with the larger members of the Embraer 170/190 regional jet family. The company said at the time the launch would have no impact on the C-Series decision.
