Embraer says this grant will be soon be followed with US FAA type certification. US certification will then allow the manufacturer to begin delivery of its E-190 to launch customer JetBlue Airways.

JetBlue was scheduled to take delivery of its first 100-seat aircraft in late August but the airline has confirmed deliveries will now start in mid-September, about six weeks before the first E-190 service is scheduled to begin.

According to Embraer, the certification campaign used five pre-series E-190 jets, consumed approximately 1,800 test flight hours, and involved the production of more than 970 reports.

An additional 140 tests were conducted in laboratories and ground test simulators.

Embraer expects European and Canadian type certification for its E-190 to be issued soon.
