ROLLS-ROYCE Despite being beset by criticism over its public handling of the uncontained failures of its Trent 900 and 1000 engines, under the wing of a Qantas Airbus A380 and on its Derby testbed, respectively, the aeroengine maker cancelled, without explanation, its planned Airshow China press briefing. The move left media attending the show with nothing to do but speculate. Some reckon there is no explanation, others are not surprised by silence from R-R.

Gulfstream has now started delivering of its newly certificated G700 ultra-long-range business jet, having handed two of the 19-passenger jets to customers.
RTX estimates that the number of jets grounded by subsidiary Pratt & Whitney’s (P&W) recall of its geared turbofans (GTFs) has peaked, though executives on 23 April provided few details about the degree of disruption caused.
