Sikorsky will deliver six Polish-made S-70i helicopters through 2018 to the Chilean Air Force after completing three months of contract negotiations.

The twin-engined, medium-lift helicopter will answer Chile’s requirement for a multi-role platform, augmenting a current force of Bell 412s and UH-1s.

“The Black Hawk platform will perform for Chile as a highly reliable and safe utility helicopter that can be quickly configured for a range of missions,” says Adam Schierholz, Sikorsky’s regional executive for Latin America.

The pricing terms of the deal were not disclosed, but includes a support package with spare parts, training and on-site technical support, Sikorsk says.

The Chilean air force selected the S-70i in August.
