China Eastern Airlines recorded increases in both passenger and cargo load factor last month on solid traffic growth.

The Shanghai-based carrier, which recently agreed to a buy-in by Singapore Airlines and Singapore Government investment arm Temasek Holdings, says in a statement that passenger load factor improved 2.8 points in August to 78.1% while cargo load factor improved 1.1 percentage point to 49.8%.

Passenger traffic in terms of RPKs increased 17.8% while capacity in terms of ASKs rose 13.6%. The number of passengers carried rose 16.2% to 3.8 million.

Revenue freight tonne kilometres increased 18.9% while available freight tonne kilometres rose 16.4%. The amount of freight carried increased 12.7% to 82,770t.
