China Southern Airlines has appointed the president of China Eastern Airlines, Ma Xulun, as its general manager, board director, and a member of its party committee.

The appointment was agreed upon on 28 January, says the Guangzhou-based carrier.

It did not, however, specify if he will take on the president role vacated by Tan Wangeng, who tendered his resignation in November 2018. Tan was appointed as the deputy secretary and vice-president of its party committee at state-owned aircraft manufacturer Comac.

Prior to his China Southern appointment, Ma also held the positions of general manager, director, and deputy secretary of its party committee at China Eastern.
