Embraer has delivered the first five of 25 EMB-314 Super Tucano light attack aircraft to the Colombian air force under a $235 million order. The Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-68C turboprop-powered aircraft were handed over at the Brazilian company's Gaviao Peixoto plant last week. Colombia's December 2005 purchase was Embraer's first export sale for the Super Tucano, 10 of which have now been ordered by the Dominican Republic. A further export order to the Venezuelan air force has failed to progress due to the EMB-314's use of US-sourced content. The EMB-314 can carry external stores totalling 1,500kg (3,300lb) from its five hard points.
