Comlux Completion, the US maintenance, repair and overhaul arm of business aviation services provider Comlux, has delivered its first VIP-configured Sukhoi Superjet S100 (SBJ) to Kazakhstan copper mining company Kazakhmys.
The 19-seat regional jet took 12 months to outfit at Comlux’s Indianapolis facility, with the customised cabin securing European approval last December. The aircraft will be operated by Comlux’s local charter and management venture, which is also headquartered in the central Asian country.
The SBJ will be used to transport Kazakhmys executives on company business, Comlux says, and will also be the first of its type to be available for ad hoc charter.

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) says it has delivered nine SBJs since the type entered service in 2015. It has one aircraft on order with the Royal Thai Air Force, which is scheduled for delivery in 2018. The aircraft will join the service’s two other SBJs that were delivered in 2016, and will be used to transport government officials and high-ranking military officers.
The airframer, based in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in Russia’s far east, is now working on an extended-range variant of the SBJ with additional fuel tanks that will boost the aircraft's range by about 700nm (1,300km), to 3,240nm.
Last year, SCAC introduced a variant of the Superjet aimed at the charter market for sports teams. Earmarked for certification in 2018, the model includes zones for players as well as support staff, and space for equipment such as treatment tables and a treadmill.
