Continental Airlines continues to press ahead with its installation of LiveTV's latest live television offering, dubbed LTV3, with equipage complete on roughly 8% of the total number of aircraft eventually pegged to feature the product.

Houston-based Continental has outfitted 15 of 24 Boeing 737-900ER aircraft as it works toward installation on 36 737-700s, 108 737-800s, 12 737-900s and 17 757-300s.

The major expects installation to be complete on remaining -900ERs by this September, followed by all -900s by this December.

Next year, Continental plans to complete equipage on the -700s by July and on the -800s by October.

Installation on the -300s has a targeted completion date of January 2011.

In addition to live television, the new entertainment systems provide previously recorded premium movies, sitcoms and dramas.

The service is complimentary in first class and $6 per flight in economy as Continental has cited LTV3 as an important part of its ancillary revenue scheme.

The carrier originally signed up for LiveTV's second generation offering, the 36-channel system now flying on JetBlue Airways, but the carrier later opted for the 80-channel LTV3.
