Delta Air Lines recently completed installing lie-flat seats in business class on the first of eight Boeing 777-200ERs.
Installation of the lie-flat seats is part of a larger investment Delta is making through 2013 in its fleet, airport and overall product.
In his latest employee update Delta chief executive Richard Anderson tells employees of the first 777-200ER installation, and states the carrier expects to complete the installations of lie-flat seats on the remaining seven aircraft within the next six months.
Delta's chief highlights that in addition to lie-flat seats the 777-200ERs will feature next generation in-flight entertainment with larger screens in both business and economy and more than 1000 entertainment choices.
Once that project is complete, Anderson says the lie-flat seats will be featured on all the carrier's 777s, its 767-400ERs, 767-300ERs and Airbus A330-200s/300s, which should allow Delta to operate roughly 79 aircraft with lie-flat seating for the 2011 summer flight schedule.
