Delta Air Lines will begin flights to Leon/Guanajuato from both its Atlanta and Los Angeles hubs in December, as it focuses on expanding in Latin America.

Both flights will operate once daily on 76-seat Bombardier CRJ900s. ExpressJet Airlines will operate the flight from Atlanta and SkyWest Airlines from Los Angeles.

The SkyTeam alliance carrier will codeshare with partner Aeromexico on both routes.

Richard Anderson, chairman and chief executive of Delta, said earlier in October that the airline planned to focus its growth in Latin America and Mexico in 2014.

Delta received authority from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for both routes in June.

United Airlines flies between Los Angeles and Leon/Guanajuato, Innovata schedules show. Volaris has also received DOT authority for the route.
