Flydubai has committed to order an additional 175 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, with purchase rights for 50 more of the type.
The deal, announced at the Dubai air show, is valued at $27 billion at list prices.
Flydubai received its first 737 Max 8 from Boeing in July
More than 50 of the first 175 aircraft to be delivered will be 737 Max 10s, says Boeing. The remaining order will comprise of Max 8s and Max 9s. All variants of the jet are powered by the CFM International Leap-1B engine.
Flydubai took delivery of its first of 76 737 Max 8s from its earlier order in July, and will have six by the end of the year. The remainder of these aircraft are due for delivery through 2023. Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that the low-cost carrier holds options on a further 25 of the aircraft.
"We welcome the continuation of our long partnership with Boeing. Their airplanes have provided a foundation for the success of our business model, providing us with the operational flexibility and range to build a network of 95 destinations in 44 countries," says Flydubai chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
