Gama Aviation is preparing to open a base with "strategic partner" Imitiaz Company for Aviation Services in the Middle East's largest business aircraft market, Saudi Arabia.

The expansion comes three years after UK headquartered Gama made its first foray into the region with the formation of a business aviation services venture in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The Saudi operation will be based in Jeddah and open for business early next year. "Gama will offer aircraft management from day one," says company chief executive Marwan Khalek. "We have applied for our Saudi aircraft operator's certificate and hope to be offering charter services within the first year," he adds.

Khalek says the company hopes to replicate in Jeddah, Gama's management, operation and maintenance model, which it has established throughout its bases in Europe, the US and Sharjah.
