Business aircraft owners and operators heading to Bahrain International airport (BIA) will now have another choice of ground handler for their valuable asset, following an agreement signed at the show on 12 November between Hala Bahrain, owner of the hub’s new business aviation terminal, and local company MENA Aerospace.

The pact also marks the first foray of the business aviation services provider into the ground handling arena.

Established in 2004, MENA provides aircraft management, charter and maintenance, repair and overhaul services from its site at BIA. It is also the sole owner of the airport’s only business and general aviation aircraft hangar. Hala Bahrain was established by the Bahrain Airport Company, operator and managing body of BIA, to improve the passenger and operator experience at the airport, as part of a major regeneration programme at the hub. The facility is scheduled to open in January 2018.

MENA chief executive Omar Matar says the agreement marks the "realisation" of a long-held vision for the company, to deliver “convenient individual and packaged handling services directly to our clients”.
