Russian Helicopters is in Dubai attempting to drum up interest in its Mi-34C1 light helicopter, which is one of several civil helicopters that the company is exhibiting at the show. Having already established a major presence in Russia and the CIS, India, China, Africa and Latin America, Russian Helicopters said it plans to broaden its share of the Middle East market and become more active in the civil market. The company said it sees the piston-engined Mi-34C1 - currently undergoing flight tests and due to enter serial production in 2012 - as key to helping it achieve these aims.

More than 600 Russian-built helicopters are operated in the Middle East and North Africa, including around 200 in counter-terrorism roles in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, said Russian Helicopters.
