DeCrane Aerospace unit Audio International is on track to make available its AI Platinum Hi-Definition Entertainment System by the first quarter of 2010, providing 1080p high-definition video in-flight.

The entertainment system, which already exists in proof-of-concept form, will also empower passengers to bring their own multimedia content onboard with an iPod/iPhone interface that will enable playback aboard the entertainment system, says Mike Hammers, director of sales and marketing for Audio International.

Audio International will offer customers a full entertainment suite with options for widescreen HD monitors ranging from 12in (305mm)to 42in.

The AI Platinum package will also offer passengers a customised user interface by incorporating a touchscreen panel providing remote control access built into the finishing of the aircraft.
