EMS Technologies division EMS Aviation has begun accepting orders for its Iridium satellite-based 'Forte AirMail' solution, an FAA-certified system that provides in-flight Wi-Fi e-mail capability.

The system enables pilots and passengers to send and receive e-mail at any altitude using various Wi-Fi devices, including the RIM BlackBerry and Apple iPhone smartphones, and Wi-Fi-enabled personal digital assistants, says EMS Aviation, noting that the service supports multiple users simultaneously, and is available globally due to Iridium's worldwide coverage.

Forte AirMail is certified for operation on a number of business aircraft types, including several Bombardier and Dassault Falcon models, and the Gulfstream G-V and G-VSP

"EMS's Forte AirMail solution is ideal for those who don't need a full-blown satcom system but wish to continue doing business via e-mail. It offers e-mail connectivity more affordably than other systems available on the market today," says EMS Aviation vice-president and general manager Nim Evatt.

In addition, the Forte AirMail system users can add in-flight phone capabilities to their aircraft with the Forte phone system.

Forte AirMail is ready for delivery immediately, says EMS Aviation.
