Etihad Airways will launch service between Abu Dhabi and the Libyan capital Tripoli via Alexandria in Egypt from 17 January 2012.

The carrier said that it will initially operate the service to Tripoli via Alexandria but will move to nonstop services as soon as the infrastructure in Tripoli can support them.

The airline will deploy an Airbus A320 aircraft with 162 economy seats for the thrice weekly service.

No other carrier operates nonstop flights on the Abu Dhabi-Tripoli route, according to Innovata.
