Eurocopter has solidified its foothold in Indonesia with the creation of Eurocopter Indonesia, bringing to 18 the total number of subsidiaries and participations worldwide for the helicopter manufacturer. The company’s Asia-Pacific presence already includes subsidiaries in Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore.

The company on 21 October signed an agreement with PT. Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to set up a local assembly line for manufacturing Super Puma MK II helicopter airframes. PTDI previously built BO 105s, Puma SA330s and Super Puma AS332s under license from Eurocopter.

Based in Jakarta, the subsidiary will be in charge of all sales and customer support in Indonesia. Officials plan to build a staff of as many as 100 employees by the end of 2009.
