Austrian composites manufacturer FACC has selected Croatia as the site of a new production facility.

FACC says it will invest around €30 million in the new site, dedicated to manufacturing of lightweight cabin components for commercial and business aircraft. The facility, at which production is set to start by March 2021, will create up to 600 jobs.

The 12,200sq m site is part of a strategy to expand globally, says the company, adding that Croatia was selected for its established industry and proximity to FACC's Austrian sites.

"In line with overall market requirements and customer demands, we are continuously enlarging our manufacturing capacities," states FACC chief executive Robert Machtlinger.

The company currently has five production plants in Austria, as well as plants and partnerships in China, India, Russia and the UAE.
