Italian start-up cargo company Alis Aerolinee Italiane has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire five Airbus A330-200 freighters.
The agreement, disclosed at the Farnborough air show today, also includes three options.
Alis Aerolinee Italiane plans to operate long-haul freight services between stations in northern Italy and points in North America, India, Japan, China and southeast Asia.
“We are fully convinced that the A330-200F will greatly contribute to our development plans and allow us to operate the most modern and efficient fleet of cargo aircraft in Italy,” says Alis Aerolinee Italiane founder Alcide Leali.
Leali was the founder of Italian regional operator Air Dolomiti.
No engine selection or delivery date for the A330 freighters has yet been given.
