Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) and Sikorsky Aerospace Services have formed a joint venture to establish a maintenance, repair and overhaul centre in the emirate.

The new centre, dedicated to military aircraft, will be located at Al-Ain airport and named AMMROC (Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Centre). It is intended to serve the armed forces of the United Arab Emirates and other nations in the Middle East and North Africa.

The founding partners have pledged to invest $800 million in AMMROC, which will have capability for both fixed-wing and rotary aircraft. ADAT, which is owned by Abu Dhabi's investment arm Mubadala, and Sikorsky Aerospace Services, the aftermarket business of United Technology-owned helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky, expect the new centre to create 1,000 jobs within five years.
