FARNBOROUGH: Aerolia on expansion course

French aerostructures specialist Aerolia plans to invest €100 million ($123 million) over the next five years as the company builds a new production facility in Canada.

The manufacturer reports sales of €488 million during the first six months this year, up 14% compared with the same period in 2011. Around 300 nose sections for all in-production Airbus models, including the A350 and A400M military transport, were delivered.

The manufacturer has decided to establish an assembly line for the Bombardier Global 7000 and 8000 centre fuselage in Québec. This site will house a design office for all of the company's engineers on the programme from the middle of next year.

Intermediate design review for the business jet assembly was passed at the end of June.

But Aerolia will also invest in its existing facilities in Méaulte, St Nazaire and Toulouse in France as well as in Tunis, Tunisia.

Around 200 additional staff members are to be recruited at the French sites by year end.
