Austrian composites specialist FACC has won a contract from Airbus to supply entrance-area panelling on A320-family jets.

The Ried-based manufacturer says the deal is valued at more than €230 million ($270 million) and that it will invest a multimillion-euro sum to establish a highly automated production line for the contract, creating around 100 additional jobs.

Chief executive Robert Machtlinger states: "This continuation and expansion of the strategic partnership between Airbus and FACC is proof that we are further expanding our technology leadership."

FACC has provided overhead stowage bins and ceiling panels for the A320 family since 1990.

The new deal covers supply of the entire lining for the door and entrance area, including lighting, audio equipment and oxygen connections.

Airbus is extending its Airspace cabin design to the A320 family, having previously introduced the interior on the A350 and yet-to-certificated A330neo.
