FARNBOROUGH: Antonov selects P&WC engines for An-132 production

Pratt & Whitney Canada has signed a memorandum of understanding with Antonov to supply PW150A turboprop engines for the An-132 airlifter being developed with Saudi Arabia.

The MoU signing comes almost nine months after Antonov selected the Longueuil, Canada-based engine manufacturer to supply PW150As for the An-132 demonstrator.

"We are delighted to be working with Antonov on its An-132 production programme after having provided Antonov with PW150A engines for the An-132D Demo aircraft last fall," says P&WC president John Saabas.

The An-132, development of which is supported by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, is designed for the medium-haul airlilfter segment with a maximum payload of 9.2t and a cruising altitude of slightly more than 27,000ft with a 500km/h cruise speed.

The PW150A already powers the Bombardier Q400 turboprop.
