Brazilian carrier Azul has inked a contract covering 20 ATR 72-600s, with options on a further 20 aircraft.

Deliveries will begin in late 2011, marking all-Embraer operator Azul's first step into turboprops.

This is the second regional aircraft order revealed by Azul at the Farnborough Air Show, following yesterday's order for five additional Embraer 195s.

ATR says Azul is the Latin American launch customer for the ATR -600 series. It values the deal at $850 million, by list prices.
