Grob Aircraft and Elbit Systems have signed a teaming agreement to develop a family of G120TP trainers.

Three versions of the turboprop-powered design are being proposed under a modular concept: two-seat examples in side-by-side and tandem-seat configurations, and a four-seat version.

Grob says it will seek maximum commonality across the range to optimise cost effectiveness. The company will manufacture the aircraft, with Elbit to provide an avionics suite, including a glass cockpit featuring mission simulation capabilities and a virtual tactical training function.

The German airframer will market the G120TP globally under the arrangement, with one of its initial targets being the UK's tri-service Military Flying Training System deal. This seeks a replacement for an existing fleet of G115 Tutor aircraft.
