Chile's LAN expects to receive its first two Boeing 787s by end-2012 and another three aircraft in 2013.

The Oneworld carrier plans to begin flights with the 787 in the fourth quarter of 2012, with two long haul routes, says the airline's senior VP of marketing Pedro Margozzini.

The two routes will be Santiago-Lima-Los Angeles and Santiago-Madrid-Frankfurt, he told Flightglobal Pro. LAN will also operate the 787 on short haul flights to Buenos Aires.

"We hope to start all of these by end-2012," says Margozzini.

LAN has 32 787s on order and expects to receive all of them by 2018, he adds. The carrier expects three more aircraft in 2013 but is not able to detail a delivery plan beyond that.

LAN's 787 order is split between 22 787-8s and 10 787-9s.
