Australian flight school Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) has placed an order with Hawker Pacific for two Diamond DA42-L360 aircraft, which will be delivered in the first quarter of 2013.

The addition to FTA's fleet comes as the flight school accepts new students from Cathay Pacific, QantasLink and Virgin Australia.

FTA will receive a delivery of four more DA40-CS aircraft from Hawker Pacific at the end of 2012 as part of a fleet sale firmed earlier this year. The deal includes the option to purchase an additional 18 aircraft in 2013 and 2014.

The two DA42 aircraft are equipped with Garmin G1000 avionics suites, fuel injections and low drag airframes, which will improve fuel efficiency. The aircraft is available in both avgas and diesel models with redesigned cowlings to lower drag.
