Roughly a month after resigning his post as chairman of the SkyEurope board, Jason Bitter was selected as chief executive officer of Air Arabia Maroc.

The carrier is a partnership between Middle Eastern low cost carrier Air Arabia and Casablanca-based Regional Air Lines. Air Arabia Maroc made its debut on flights from Casablanca to London Stansted on 6 May and currently serves Barcelona, Brussels, Istanbul, Lyon, Paris and Milan.

SkyEurope on 3 June issued a brief statement explaining Bitter's departure was a mutual agreement. The carrier is currently under creditor protection.

Commenting on Bitter's new post Air Arabia CEO Adel Ali says: "Jason brings with him enormous global experience in the low-cost sector and a great set of professional skills, which he will apply to the management of Morocco's newest LCC and the latest member of the Air Arabia family."

Bitter has 15 years of experience in the industry, including serving as chief operating officer of Indian low cost carrier SpiceJet.
