Leisure carrier Germania has teamed with Balkan operator Air Prishtina to open three new German connections from the Kosovan capital in 2019.
The German airline will start flights linking Hamburg, Hannover and Stuttgart with Pristina next summer. These join its existing routes from the city to Dusseldorf and Munich in Germany, Swiss multi-border airport Basel Mulhouse and northern Italian city Verona.
It will base a 150-seat Airbus A319 in Pristina to serve the expanded network.
Germania's director of sales Claus Altenburg says: "For 2019, we are expecting a further increase in demand for flights from Kosovo, especially to Germany. With the stationing of an aircraft in Pristina, Germania and Air Prishtina are well prepared. This allows us to respond quickly to new developments at any time."
It marks further expansion in services linking Pristina with Germany and Switzerland.
Central European budget carrier Wizz Air last month added flights to Memmingen, located near Munich. That route rivals Germania's link to Munich, while Wizz will compete directly with the carrier when it launches Basel services later this month. Wizz also plans to launch Dortmund services from Pristina later this year.
