It seems that Hollywood star and aviation enthusiast John Travolta may be on the hunt for a suitable Boeing 747SP to add to his eclectic fleet. Travolta, who loves aircraft so much he named his only son "Jett", recently donated his Canadair CL41 Tutor to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His other aircraft include a Gulfstream II and a former Qantas Boeing 707-138B, the latter of which your Uncle believes to be the only one of its type in existence to be Stage 3 certified. However, perhaps bouyed by excellent sales of Get Shorty videos and other royalties, Travolta may be about to "Get Stubby" instead and is once more looking to Qantas for his big jet needs. The last two of the airline's faithful Rolls-Royce-powered SPs have been retired and are up for grabs so we asked our Down Under correspondent Bruce O'Booze to investigate:
O'Booze: "Ah G'day. All I can tell you is that somebody said 767s might be operated between Sydney and Melbourne as night clubs. However, I can personally confirm that an SP is a good aeroplane down the back of which to get sloshed. A 767 is only for those without staying power!"
Budgie News: "Yes, whatever, whatever. But what about these newspaper reports about Travolta and the 747SP?"
O'Booze: "It's all a load of Pulp Fiction if you ask me mates."
