Hainan Airlines’ dedicated domestic regional carrier Grand China Express has taken delivery of its first Embraer 190, which is the first of 50 it has on order and the first E-190 destined for China.

The Brazilian aircraft maker says in a statement that representatives from Grand China Express are in Brazil and have officially taken delivery of the airline’s first E-190.

It says on 12 May the Civil Aviation Administration of China certified the E-190.

This aircraft is the first of 50 E-190s Grand China Express has on order and the airline will be the first in China to operate this aircraft type.

In August 2006 the airline’s parent ordered 50 E-190s and 50 Embraer ERJ-145s on behalf of Grand China Express in a deal with a list value of $2.7 billion.
