Aerospace engines and avionics supplier Honeywell says it has won new contracts for programmes that have yet to be publicly revealed with a combined lifetime value of more than $20 billion.
That disclosure by chief financial officer David Anderson on the company's third quarter earnings presentation could hint at the existence of multiple new aircraft programmes in development behind-the-scenes.
Anderson did not clarify whether the new business belonged to the commercial, military or business aircraft sectors. But the new business would appear to be substantial.
The total amount is two-thirds of Honeywell's estimate for the lifetime value of its position on the Lockheed Martin F-35 programme. Honeywell supplies several critical components, including the integrated power package, for the F-35, which has an official programme of record to deliver 3,100 fighters.
Honeywell already supplies the HTF7000 engines for the Embraer Legacy 450/500 business jets and the Gulfstream G280. The company also builds integrated avionics systems for the Boeing 787 and 747-8, as well as numerous business jets.
The company's aerospace segment reported a 4% increase in sales in the third quarter, with production ramp-ups by Airbus and Boeing driving sales growth.
