IAI weighs Chinese business jet pact

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is in negotiations with Chinese manufacturer AVIC about co-operating to develop and build an advanced business jet. The initiative – part of a wider effort to collaborate on commercial programmes – is connected to a recent visit to China by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

IAI says it cannot comment on the status of talks with AVIC, or detail their contents.

The company closed its production line for the Gulfstream G150 last year, leaving the G280 as its only type in manufacturing. Its activity on the platform is operating at a "satisfying rate", IAI says, but it intends to expand the use of its design and production capabilities.

As previously reported by FlightGlobal, in 2015 IAI began a preliminary evaluation related to the development of a small executive jet capable of carrying six passengers up to 1,300nm (2,400km).
