Air India’s regional unit Alliance Air is seeking to lease two new ATR 72-600s that can be delivered by September 2020.

The regional carrier states in tender documents that it intends to lease the turboprops for 12 years, and prefers bidders which have owned or leased at least 10 commercial aircraft.

It is expecting the first turboprop to be delivered between April and June 2020 and the second between July and September. It is open to earlier deliveries but will not consider deliveries after September 2020.

The tender closes on 21 October.

Alliance Air is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India, but will be transferred to special-purpose vehicle, Air India Asset Holdings, as part of a financial restructuring plan for the heavily indebted mainline carrier.

Cirium’s fleets data show Alliance Air operates 18 ATR 72-600s, leased from DAE Capital, Elix Aviation Capital and Avation.
