Yarwood Leather (stand 5E17) has launched a new product designed to meet the exacting heat release requirements of panel components in aircraft interiors. Following on from its existing Supalite product, Yarwood has developed a second-generation heat release compliant leather, called Kalorlite.

"This product allows airlines to position leather on vertical faces and panelling to improve the visual impact of the cabin whilst meeting the exacting EASA and FAA certification requirements," says Yarwood.

The first generation product has been flown successfully by several global airlines, but with kalorlite Yarwood says it has eliminated minor manufacturing limitations.

The result is that leather can be used in many more applications, opening up the possibility of replacing synthetic products with the "more aspirational and luxurious leather", says Yarwood. "For business and first class applications, leather can now be used on the outside panels and vertical faces - this not only increases the visual impact of the cabin, but also the durability of the unit," it adds.
