Italian leisure carrier Neos is equipping its Boeing 767s with Lufthansa Systems' BoardConnect in-flight entertainment system.

BoardConnect streams content via wi-fi to passengers' mobile phones or tablets rather than screens in seatbacks.

Milan-based Neos will "initially" install the system on its three 767-300ER widebodies, says Lufthansa Systems, with which the airline has signed a five-year contract.

In addition to these aircraft, Neos has six 737-800s, Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets database shows.

As the airline operates aircraft on behalf of multiple tour operators, a key advantage of Lufthansa Systems' offering is the possibility to provide customised content to different passenger groups, says the German aviation IT specialist.

Neos chief executive Carlo Stradiotti believes BoardConnect offers "exactly the kind of modern in-flight entertainment that matches our brand".

The contract includes certification efforts by maintenance specialist Lufthansa Technik for the system installation on Neos' aircraft.
