Japan Airlines (JAL) will introduce in-flight wi-fi services on international routes this summer.
The service, called JAL sky wi-fi, will use the broadband Ku connectivity solution eXConnect, provided by Panasonic Avionics.
The service will enable passengers to connect to their personal electronic devices such as laptops and other wi-fi enabled gadgets in flight.
JAL's Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be the first to be retrofitted with the service.
The carrier will launch wi-fi services on flights between Tokyo's Narita International Airport and New York's John F Kennedy airport. The service will be available on alternate days from 15 July and daily from early August.
JAL expects to deliver its latest service on flights to and from Chicago, Los Angeles and Jakarta by the end of October this year, and London, Paris and Frankfurt by next spring.
