Jet Aviation has signed an agreement with Collins Aerospace to buy 150 units of the GLU-2100 multi-mode receiver in preparation for performing avionics upgrades on Boeing BBJ 737 and 747 aircraft before the upcoming deadline for the ADS-B out mandate.
"We could always fit ADS-B equipment without this partnership but we couldn't do it in a timely fashion. With this big upfront order, we now have a very short downtime to get it done," says Oliver Bergsch, vice-president sales management for EMEA and APAC at Jet Aviation. Installation takes about three days.

The first units from the order are already in stock and more will be available from September.
"We expect a big rush at the end of this year and the beginning of next year," says Klaus Boehmer, senior interior and avionics proposal manager at Jet Aviation's avionics sales and key accounts division.
As part of the Federal Aviation Administration's NextGen initiative, all business jets will have to be fitted with ADS-B equipment to fly in controlled airspace by 1 January 2020. A similar requirement in Europe will follow in June 2020. The technology allows air traffic controllers to more accurately chart the position of aircraft.
Also at the show, Jet Aviation signed a five-year deal with Boeing for its Jeppesen Operator technology platform. Jet will implement the software across its US operations to provide international trip support and flight planning services and data intelligence through a centralised web portal.
"We are investing in the Jeppesen Operator platform to ensure our customers and flightcrews have every possible advantage in terms of safety, convenience and efficiency,” says Dave Paddock, who becomes president of Jet Aviation on 1 July.
The Jet Aviation deal was the second Jeppesen announcement made by Boeing at the show. The airframer also signed a seven-year deal with HK Bellawings for its Jeppesen JetPlanner Pro offering, which provides end-to-end flight planning, dispatch operations and route optimisation.
