JetBlue Airways has launched a redemption programme for $86.2 million in outstanding debt.

The New York-based carrier will pay holders of its 6.75% notes due in 2039 the full value of the principal plus accrued and unpaid interest, it says in a statement today.

The fair value, including unpaid interest, of the 6.75% notes was $274 million at the end of June, a JetBlue quarterly financial filing shows.

JetBlue expects the redemption to close on 1 November.

Wilmington Trust is trustee of the 6.75% notes.
