US business aircraft charter and management company JetSuite has launched commercial services with an Embraer Phenom 100 very light jet.

The Henderson, Nevada-based company welcomed aircraft designer, engineer and entrepreneur Burt Rutan late last month as its first passenger. JetSuite plans to take delivery of its remaining seven Phenom 100s this year and all aircraft will be operated by Solana Beach, California-based charter operator Air by Jet.

"We have the first Phenom for charter in California, and people are clamouring to fly on it," says JetSuite chief executive Alex Wilcox. Charter pricing for the Phenom 100 runs at about half of that for comparable jets with, for example, Los Angeles to Las Vegas starting around $1,900 one way, all in, and Los Angeles to San Francisco starting around $2,900 one way, all in, says JetSuite.

As the aircraft seats up to four passengers, these prices make private jet travel as affordable as $475 or $750 each, respectively, says the company.
