KAL places firm order for 10 Bombardier CS300s

Bombardier has landed its first firm order for its CSeries aircraft in Asia, with Korean Air converting a letter of intent into an order for ten CS300 aircraft, bringing total CSeries orders to 133.

"Korean Air's selection of the CSeries aircraft to meet its route expansion requirements in the Asia-Pacific market, and our growing list of customers in the European and North American markets are testaments to the high value and operational flexibility of the CSeries aircraft program," said Bombardier Commercial Aircraft president Gary Scott.

The letter of intent was originally signed at the Paris air show on 21 June. KAL has options for another 10 CS300s and purchase rights for 10 more.

KAL's CS300s will be powered by Pratt & Whitney geared turbofan PW1521G engines.

"The Korean Air transaction increases firm orders for the CSeries family of airliners to 133 aircraft," said Bombardier.

Other customers that have firm orders for CSeries aircraft are Republic Airways, Lufthansa, Lease Corporation International, Braathens Aviation, and three undisclosed customers. These customers also have 119 options and 10 purchase rights on CSeries jetliners.
