Krygyzstan’s general prosecutor has opened a routine criminal case into the fatal crash at Bishkek involving a Turkish-operated Boeing 747-400F.

The ACT Airlines aircraft came down near the capital’s Manas airport following a flight from Hong Kong on 16 January.

Kyrgyzstan’s general prosecutor’s office says the decision is based on the country’s criminal code, and will probe any possible violation of safety rules in air transport operation.

Several government departments, including the ministry of internal affairs and representatives of the Kyrgyz state security committee, are participating in the inquiry.
