Aerodynamics specialists are preparing to analyse a large-scale model of the Irkut MC-21 using a Moscow windtunnel.

The Central Aerohydrodynamics Institute says the one-eighth scale model will provide data “close” to real performance figures.

It states that the studies are set to take place at the end of March. The model will be positioned at various heights and angles of attack in the subsonic windtunnel at the Zhukovsky test centre.

Seventeen tension gauges will measure the forces and moments acting on the wing during take-off, landing and taxiing.
