The first aircraft in the new livery will be unveiled in the first half of 2016, with the branding rolled out gradually to the Chile-based group’s fleet over the next three years.

“We knew that having a single brand was essential to consolidate the connection between LAN and TAM, and the name LATAM creates a strong identity for the airlines that form the largest airline group in Latin America,” says Mauricio Amaro, president of the LATAM board of directors, in a statement. “The new brand is born from the desire to capture the best of both identities and legacies and consolidate them to create an even stronger one that preserves the essence of each brand.”

The airline anticipates spending about $40 million on the rebranding effort, said its chief marketing officer Jerome Cadier at an event in Sao Paulo.
